Smarter Golf Energy (SGE) was founded by Stuart Harris, a former Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) East Region member.
After leaving the PGA in 2012, Stuart went on to pursue a career in energy consultancy. In 2018, he saw the opportunity to combine his two areas of expertise and created SGE with the aim of providing both PGA members and their clubs with improved service and lower tariffs.
The SGE Director says:
“Energy is a time-consuming and confusing arena. With up to 150 different tariffs and products, how can golf club managers and owners feel confident they are truly in control of their annual spend and future energy strategy? Without the correct advice and energy-efficient infrastructure, it is easy to waste valuable funds which could be invested elsewhere within the club.”
“My goal for SGE is to provide simple, honest advice to the golf industry, and to use the relationships with our energy suppliers to ensure the best value for PGA members and the clubs with which they work.”
Stuart is proud that SGE has become a PGA partner, giving the company the opportunity to support the growth of the game and the PGA Benevolent Fund.
On a personal level, Stuart enjoys the opportunity to engage with both PGA members and golf club managers: “I am happy to visit as many golf clubs as physically possible to provide free, honest advice and formulate long-term plans for each venue. The aim is to reduce cost and support the club especially via the junior sections to ensure the future success of the game.”
SGE has a clear vision to provide golf clubs with preferential rates and assist with the transition from traditional fossil fuel-based contracts over to greener, renewable contracts.
We encourage PGA members, club secretaries and managers to take advantage of our expertise to assist in saving you time and money, as well as providing a future-proofed energy strategy.
